Recreational Sledding With WILDCRIES!

As a rule we bike our dogs when possible for extra exercise, but at the first sign of snow we hit the trails. We sled every second day for the first little while to make sure all is well. Sledding usually lasts a couple of hours at a time. After this, our dogs run 7 to 10 miles a day or longer if the snow is available and we have the time. Our dogs look forward to sledding “Rain or Shine”. Nothing stops them! Not even snowmobiles that run up your butt to get a closer look - our dogs just keep on working. Nothing is better than the wind at your back and the gang lines nice and taut.
This truly amazes me, the way our Champion CITY SLICKERS play the role of true sled dogs in the making. The best part is having a God given “Natural Leader”. In my short time of playing musher I’ve already learned that without a good LEAD DOG you have NOTHING! (And that bites BIG TIME.)
Thankfully, I’ve been truly blessed in all directions with our dogs, and for this I am very proud.

A dual-purpose dog is one that will not only excel in the ring, he will also pull a sled with the same passion as his ancestors did. And … will always be gentle enough for your children to hug.
